Hackathon #2

We are very pleased to be announcing details of our second Digital Hackathon for Children, Young People and Families Mental Health, which will take place over two weeks, from 12th – 23rd September 2016.

Hackathon #2 is a development-accelerator platform for digital product ideas generated from across the children and young people’s mental health system, from young people, parents and carers, and from professionals.  The platform could be used to develop product ideas for funding via the Hackathon, or for developing a prototype for an existing business case, or funded project.

If you missed the last Hackathon, you can find out what happened in our blog post, which describes the open-source products that emerged, or watch the short video

Event Breakdown

Those who bring their ideas to the first day of the Hackathon (Monday 12th September 2016) will have one day of practical digital product development workshops, led by Dan Sofer (Founder, Founders & Coders) utilising user-stories, user-journeys and wire-framing to refine their digital product idea. At the end of the first day everyone with an idea will pitch their ideas. Five of these will be selected for working prototypes. Over the proceeding 4 working days, product owners will need 20 minutes each morning to engage with the developers in a telephone stand-up meeting that will direct the emerging working prototypes. The working prototypes will be presented at an evening workshop on Friday 16th September for feedback.

Over the course of the following week, the teams will ‘user test’ their working prototypes with colleagues and friends, and gather their feedback for their presentation at the final evening workshop on Friday 23rd September, when the teams will pitch their products. A number of products will be awarded development time from a dedicated team of software developers from Founders & Coders, and a highly skilled and experienced supervisor.

Funding Pitch, Friday 23 September 6.00 pm – 8.30 pm.

  1. […] Alex Goforth gave a walk through of the ‘How am I doing?’ app developed at the last Hackathon. The app collects RCADS outcome data for mood and presents it in graphs and summary tables. The app also allows the sharing of data with clinicians and others. You can find more about the Hackathon apps here. The next Hackathon will be starting on 12th September – click here for more details. […]
